About the Work
Lethe’s Garden takes its name from the mythological Greek river flowing through Hades — the river of forgetting, whose waters erased the memory of past lives. The works in this series are dense, layered, and ornate: colored pencil, gouache, graphite, oil paint, alcohol ink, and fabric built up on paper into something that is, at once, lush and slightly elusive. There’s a ghost-like quality to the graphite that drifts along the margins.
