“icarus” at art market san francisco

“Icarus 2,” Gouache and candle smoke on paper, 19″x24″ offered at $1,900 framed

I hope you are all doing well and staying safe!  The studio has been busy this Spring and I am so thrilled that SLATE Contemporary Gallery will be featuring 2 smoke paintings from my recent “Icarus” series at Art Market San Francisco!

This is the first time since 2019 that Art Market will take place as an in-person event at beautiful Fort Mason Festival Pavilion in San Francisco from April 21-24th.  Focusing on modern contemporary art, there will be over 80 galleries from around the world. I feel so honored that SLATE has included my work in their collection to share with visitors.

“Icarus” refers to the Greek myth of flying too close to the sun and is a metaphor for the pursuit of beauty and freedom despite personal risk.  These works are on 19″x24″ paper, painted with gouache and graphite and layered with candle smoke and collaged elements.  My intention is to present intimate worlds for the viewer to explore.

If you can’t attend Art Market, SLATE is offering all the works in the booth through a pre-sale online purchase at the link below!
